Dealroom data adds a capital-side signal, with Ripple and Lightspeed backing OpenEden to scale its Treasury product further. The pattern matters for risk-adjusted deployment. Capital is concentrating around audited, regulated wrappers, not around experimental yield designs. We treat this concentration as the operative variable in sizing exposure to the category.

Issuer Concentration and Counterparty Exposure

When two entities absorb one-fifth of the tokenized Treasury segment between them, the category inherits their specific credit profile, jurisdictional standing, and operational history. The diversification benefit of "tokenized Treasuries" as an asset class partially evaporates at the issuer layer. A protocol that wraps exposure from a single dominant issuer inherits that issuer's redemption queue, legal wrapper, and attestation cadence.

We monitor the on-chain proof-of-reserves mechanism behind each issuer, the cadence of attestations relative to issuance growth, and the redemption pathway under default scenarios. Yield above the underlying Treasury rate, when it appears, is funded either by structural arbitrage or by new issuance demand. The first is finite. The second is reflexive and reverses with risk appetite.

Capital Efficiency Versus Structural Shift

The framing published by Investing.com positions tokenized Treasuries as either a capital-efficiency upgrade or a genuine structural market shift. We treat this as a binary distinction with direct implications for yield sustainability. If the products function as a faster settlement layer for existing Treasury exposure, yield compresses against the bond rate minus operational drag. If they represent a new funding primitive, sustained on-chain demand independent of the off-chain rate is required to justify any premium.

The operational data points are limited so far. We have issuer concentration metrics, venture backing of specific platforms, and CFO-facing narratives about cash drag. We do not yet have audited yield sustainability curves across market cycles. Until that data exists, we model exposure to the category against the underlying Treasury rate, not against the marketed APY.

The Corporate Cash Vector

A separate Investing.com analysis argues that Bitcoin and tokenized yield instruments address idle corporate cash currently earning near-zero bank yields. The mechanism is mechanical: corporate balances migrate into instruments offering the Treasury rate plus operational alpha, with on-chain settlement enabling same-day liquidity.

The attack surface is not the underlying bond. It is the settlement, custody, and redemption layer. A tokenized Treasury product that fails to honor 1:1 redemption against the underlying CUSIP creates settlement-layer insolvency that the wrapping protocol cannot absorb. For protocols constructing structured yield on top of these instruments, the conclusion is narrow. Yield compresses to the underlying short rate plus a thin operational spread. Anything materially above that spread requires a defended thesis — a stated purpose, a justified architecture — or it unwinds at the first liquidity event.
